Free choice of doctor – but not without guidance
(not in hospitals)

A story:

18.6.2026 ….. One morning, a patient wakes up with an unpleasant ringing in his ears. It whistles, it buzzes, and it disturbs him when he is trying to fall asleep. He does what every person in Switzerland naturally wants to be able to do: he looks for a doctor he trusts.

He quickly gets an appointment with an ENT specialist. The doctor examines him, makes an initial diagnosis and begins treatment. The treatment is correctly documented, checked by MEDIFACT, remunerated and filed in the EKK patient dossier.

But after a few weeks it becomes clear: the treatment does not bring the desired success.

The patient goes back to the doctor. Now the decisive difference from today’s system begins. The doctor must register the case again in the EPD. At this moment, the MEDIFACT system steps in to help.

The MEDIFACT system does not only see this individual patient. It also recognises that, in comparable complaints and similar symptoms, other service providers have achieved better results with other methods. From many documented cases, the MEDIFACT system knows which approaches have often been successful in making tinnitus disappear — and which treatments have shown hardly any effect in similar cases.

The doctor remains free in his medical responsibility. But he no longer works blindly.

Possible next steps appear on the screen: other forms of therapy, specialised service providers, clinics outside the hospital sector, experienced professionals or treatment centres that have achieved clearly better results in comparable cases.

Now the doctor can decide together with the patient:

Does the treatment remain with him and is it adapted according to proven methods?
Or is it more sensible to refer the patient to a place that has already had greater success with exactly such cases?

Everything happens directly on the screen. No paperwork. No lost reports. No unnecessary duplicate examinations. No phoning from one practice to another.

The patient can see what is happening. The doctor explains. The MEDIFACT system provides the experience of the entire system.

In this way, free choice of doctor is preserved — but it becomes more intelligent. The patient may continue to choose. The doctor may continue to treat. But the MEDIFACT system ensures that wrong or unsuccessful paths are not repeated endlessly.

This is the big difference: the Einheits-KrankenKasse does not simply remunerate every further treatment blindly. The MEDIFACT system learns from every case. It recognises successful service providers. It shows better possibilities. And it helps the patient and the doctor to find the right path more quickly.

In this way, free choice of doctor becomes a better choice of doctor.

The MEDIFACT system is not bureaucracy. It is help at the right moment.
